They’ve always been rivals as far as Nollywood is
concerned. Both are successful models, business men and
of course, hunks! Today on Showdown! Nollywood’s bad
boys, Jim Iyke and Emeka Ike lock horns as movie buffs
determine who the better lover boy is.
Jim Iyke
James Ikechukwu Esomugha, aka, Jim Iyke, is the only son
of a family of eight. A graduate of Philosophy from the
University of Jos, Jim has starred in over 200 romantic
movies since 2001 when he joined Nollywood. In 2008, the
bad boy was crowned the Sexiest Man In Nigeria. To date
he has been romantically linked to famous women both in
business and Nollywood and is rumoured to be having a
whirl wind romance with Ghallywood’s Nadia Buari.
Emeka Ike
Emeka Ike though a graduate of Mechanical Engineering is
one of Nigeria’s most accomplished male actors.
Discovered on the platform of popular TV series, Mega
Fortunes, he hit the limelight after he featured in Deadly
Affair in1987 and went on to emerge one of the industry’s
most sought after lover boys in movies such as Passions,
Queen Sheba, Right Man For Me and Not Man Enough
among others. He is happily married with four kids.
Both are Casanovas –Enyi Constance, student
Judging from the characters they both play in movies, they
are two of a kind; they are both dangerous make-belief
Casanovas. I just pray they do not replicate such acts in
real life.
Jim Iyke is better –Risi Bakare, student
Before Jim came on board, Emeka was the undisputable
Nollywood bad boy. But soon after the emergence of Jim,
he relegated Emeka to the background.
It’s Emeka –Joyce Mmachi, social worker
Emeka interprets love roles better than Jim Iyke. Jim is a
talented actor but he’s not not as good as Emeka in playing
lover boy roles. However, when it comes to doing Nigga
stuff, Jim Iyke is numero uno.
I doff my hat for Jim Iyke –Nene Nnam, designer
Jim Iyke is just amazing! He’s so real you almost forget
you are actually watching a movie. Please give me Jim Iyke!
I would go for Emeka Ike –Bola Ogunjobi, Banker
I don’t like watching movies that feature Jim Iyke. His
acting portrays him as a slippery and unreliable lover; I
guess that’s his nature. Take a look at Patience Ozokwor
for instance, you don’t need a prophet to tell you she is a
no-nonsense woman in real life. So, I would go for Emeka
Ike. He is even more handsome.
Jim is irresistible –Jane Gabriel, undergraduate
Give me Jim Iyke any day and I’ll serve him steamy stuff.
(Laughter) The guy looks irresistibly cute. I wish I could
have him in my arms for just a while even if it not for
keeps; Emeka is simply not Jim’s match.
They are both bad boys –Shade Ajayi, health worker
The thing is that women naturally fall for bad boys. And
the reason is simple, bad boys have sweet tongues and are
skilful in the art of using the right words on women. Once
you package yourself well and use the right words on a
woman, she would definitely fall, sometimes even
sheepishly. Sweet words can intoxicate even the toughest
woman on earth. That is what Jim and Emeka represent in
Nollywood.
They are both crafty –Jenny Ahiazu, ex banker
As women, we meet men like Emeka Ike and Jim Iyke daily.
Before I got married, I used to be a banker and I know
what I experienced then as a single banker. Many single
female bankers fall into the hands of bad boys. A careful,
intelligent and non-greedy girl with a calm spirit would
easily suspect Jim Iyke’s deadly moves and thread
carefully. But Emeka is usually calm and is the wolf in
sheep’s skin so they are both smart and cunning lovers.
Jim is awesome! –Nneka Acholonu – undergraduate
Jim Iyke is even hotter than Saint Obi and Richard Mofe
Damijo (RMD) in their heydays. Jim is simply awesome! And
I can assure you that instead of hating him for all his
mischief against women in movies, a lot of girls are craving
for a feel of him.
Jim is more versatile –Yemi Adebiyi, student
Jim Iyke is the one! Aside being a better lover boy, he also
appears to be more versatile and more focused than
Emeka.
Emeka is better in role interpretation – John Chuks,
photographer
I think that Emeka is a better lover boy. He is better in
role interpretation as far as I’m concerned. I prefer him
because he is not as predictable as Jim Iyke.
I’ll follow Jim to the moon –Doris Eneche, student
Let me ask you, if you were a woman, which of them would
you wish to have? As for me, I’ll follow Jim Iyke anywhere,
even to the moon. He always looks crisp, fresh and edible if
you understand me.
